Attendance & Quorum
- In-Person Attendance: 26 (including 25 paid-in-full members)
- Quorum Status: With 25 voting members present out of 34 total rostered voting members, a quorum was established.
Educational Presentation
- Topic: What's in your honey?
- Presenter: Kristen Smith (Virginia Master Beekeeper and President of the Virginia State Beekeepers Association)
Old Business
Officer Elections (2026-2027): Because a nominating committee had not been formed, nominations were taken from the floor during the May meeting. Floor nominations included Cordell Garrett for President and Conrad Haas for Vice President, with Christina Turconi and Joanna Campbell agreeing to remain in their respective roles. A final vote was called to accept the nominations as the officer lineup for the upcoming fiscal year.
The elected officers for the 2026-2027 term are:
President: Cordell Garrett
Vice President: Conrad Haas
Secretary: Christina Turconi
Treasurer: Joanna Campbell
Nansemond Pow Wow: President Conrad reminded the club of the upcoming event on August 15th and 16th (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM). Secretary Christina Turconi will email specific details to volunteers closer to the event date.
VSBA Fall Meeting: The Virginia State Beekeepers Association meeting is scheduled for October 16-18 at Germanna Community College in Culpeper, VA.
Isle of Wight County Fair: At the May meeting, the club voted to support an educational booth in partnership with the agriculture committee. The fair is scheduled for September 17-20. Members can sign up to volunteer via the SignUpGenius link.
Hay Bale Competition: Conrad asked the club to continue thinking about participating in the fair's hay bale competition. The club has until the August meeting to make a final decision.
Annual Dues: Members were reminded that annual club dues ($10) are now due for the new fiscal year.

Hospitality Note: The club extended its thanks to Conrad Haas for providing the evening's refreshments.
Raffle: Members contributed a variety of beekeeping items for the monthly raffle. The President reminded everyone to bring items to donate for the next meeting's raffle.
